Why pay as you go?
Eight 19's Indigo solar system allows some of the world's poorest people, who cannot afford to pay for a solar light outright, access to clean and affordable energy from the sun.
How the system works:
1 Users in Africa make a deposit on a new pay as you go solar system.
2 Each week users pay off the remaining cost of the solar light using a scratch card and mobile phone.
3 Income from scratch cards is then reinvested to sell more solar lights to other off-grid communities.
How you can help
1 Make a donation to the Kickstart Energy Fund to help cover the cost of solar lights. We will keep reinvesting your donation as it is paid back by Indigo solar users. Simply click the donate button below, choose a specific project and check the Kickstart option. As an example, £400 will bring Indigo solar lights to 20 homes.
2 Help us raise £100,000 and provide an interest free loan for a period of at least two years of £5,000 or more ($8,000) that can be invested in the scheme itself.
