Back in London after a fruitful trip to Kenya
Hello from London!
I have returned from my stay in Kenya and have been back in the London office read-adjusting to work and life here. My trip to Kenya gave me the opportunity to learn about our programmes directly and although the intensity of the direct involvement lacks a little back here, the flaky internet and bus connections are too! I'm already witnessing some of the fruits of my labour there but will definitely have to return soon...
SolarAid has grown significantly since I first joined as a volunteer! And that is befitting because while in Kenya, I witnessed the huge demand for the SolarAid products. We are also finding significant and meaningful ways to reach rural Africans through distribution channels that we have created and that have not been accomplished by anyone else to date. A true feat!
Its also great to see the ability to learn from each of our teams - their lessons learnt coupled with our M & E (monitoring and evaluation) procedures will allow us to continue to shift and grow as necessary.
I've also been made the Macrosolar Focal Point which means I will be in constant contact with all of our project teams, gathering what's been learnt in the process of installing large scale panels on schools, clinics and hospitals. I can then use this information to coordinate and inform the teams on how the Macrosolar model can be used.
Until next time, please check out our franchisees' blogs and please consider sponsoring a franchisee. This really is a worthwhile project. Lives really are changing for the better.
Thank you,
Miguel
